Can I use Revoke to recover stolen assets?+
No. Revoke is a preventative tool that helps you practice proper wallet hygiene. By regularly revoking active approvals you reduce the chances of becoming the victim of approval exploits. It cannot be used to recover stolen funds, but you should still revoke the approvals that were used so more cannot be taken.
I want to revoke approvals, but when I add ETH to my account it gets stolen.+
If a "sweeper bot" steals any ETH as soon as it comes in, your seed phrase was compromised. Revoking approvals will not help. Abandon this wallet and create a new one.
Is it enough to disconnect my wallet instead of revoking approvals?+
No. Disconnecting your wallet does not protect you from approval exploits. It only prevents the website from seeing your address — your approvals stay active on-chain.
How much does it cost to use Revoke?+
Revoke is a free service, but every revoke transaction incurs a normal gas fee. Batch revoke charges a small $1.50 fee to support continued development. On certain networks the fee is covered by a sponsor.
Can hardware wallets save me from approval exploits?+
No. Hardware wallets are much safer against key theft, but approvals do not require key theft to steal your tokens. Hardware wallets offer no extra protection against approval exploits.
Why does my wallet mention "give permission" or "set approval for all" when revoking?+
In token smart contracts, approving and revoking use the same function. When revoking the value is set to 0 (ERC20) or false (NFTs). You can verify by checking the transaction data.
What happens to my deposited or staked tokens when I revoke?+
Revoking approvals has no impact on deposited or staked tokens. They stay deposited and can be withdrawn. Adding more tokens to a position will require a new approval.
Which approvals do I need to revoke?+
It's a trade-off between safety and convenience. Well-known protocols are usually fine to leave approved. Newer or unknown contracts should be revoked. Some use cases (like active OpenSea listings) require approvals to remain active.
Do I need to revoke approvals on testnets?+
Generally no — testnet tokens have no value and approvals are scoped per token per network, so testnet approvals do not risk mainnet funds.
